The Mailbox - book review

I love to read and I think I am starting to get back into my "groove" of reading!
I used to read alot, but now...
It is more Curious George with Broxton versus books for me.
Nothing is wrong with that, of course, I would not change it for anything!

I was able to read THE MAILBOX by MARYBETH WHALEN.
I started it and finished it in 2 days!
It was a great read and a pretty easy one as well!

Are you headed to the pool or beach?
This would be a perfect quick read for you then!

I enjoyed the story and imagine knowing that it was based on a REAL mailbox in North Carolina!
The mailbox is a sweet story about this one mailbox...
Out in the middle of nowhere!
On the outside it says, "Kindred Spirit" and locals and tourists all visit to leave a letter for the "Kindred Spirit!"
The mailbox is filled with notebooks, loose leaf notebook paper and plenty of pens. You go visit and write whatever you need to say to the "Kindred Spirit." No one reads it but them... and no one knows who the "Kindred Spirit" is!
Besides this just being a book about some mailbox, it is a sweet story about love...
Lindsey visited Sunset as a teenager...
She visited the mailbox and since started a tradition! Every year, she returns to Sunset with her family and she makes her yearly trek to the mailbox to write her letter about the previous year. Once Lindsey and her husband divorce, she has to face new territory! Let down her guard and learn to love, or stay guarded and full of pain!

This book was a page turner...
I had a feeling that I knew who the "Kindred Spirit" was, but I had to keep reading to see if I was right or not.

I really hope that Marybeth Whalen writes more books, this was a good one!
Maybe she will even explore focusing another book on one of the other characters next time!

  2. I LOVE to read! I wish I had more time to do it - as it is my husband gets aggravated when we're in bed at night and I pick up my book!
