A series of books that we all seem to enjoy are the books from Ripley's Believe It or Not! They are great for all ages and for both boys and girls. We have been fortunate to review a few of them and we have also bought many through the years. In fact, when my mom came to visit last, she brought a copy of one of them for her to look through on the road trip up to see us.
A thing I enjoy about the Ripley's books is that you don't have to "read" it like a regular book. You can flip and read a section or two, or even a paragraph or two at a time. There is no particular order and to be honest, if you want to, you can just look at the pictures. Of course, once you see the pictures, you want to read to see what it is all about, but I am pointing out that all ages can enjoy these books!
I will say that while many of the entries in these books are quite fascinating, there are some that make you feel sorry for the entrant and of course some make you a bit sick to your stomach (at least in my case that is.)
We were recently sent the latest, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Eye Popping Oddities for review and it does not disappoint.
Check out the contents:
Believe It!
World
Animals
Body
Pop Culture
Transport
Feats
Art
Food
Beyond Belief
I thought it was awesome to see the Staple Portraits (a guy made a portrait of Darth Vader using 10,496 staples!) Being a fan of all sorts of art, I would say that the ART section was my favorite, followed by the Pop Culture section. I was not that fond of the food, but that was just because I did not want to see people drinking cow urine, but to each their own and I know different cultures see different things as normal.
This book was 245 pages full of fun facts that we will be looking at time and time again.
Have you ever been to a Ripley's location or checked out one of their books before? (Broxton's school has a few in their library!)

The book is available through all major booksellers. The book will be easy to find - just look for the five 3D eyeballs on the cover (they'll be looking for you.) Inside lurks a collection of unbelievable stories.
- Meet the "Austrian Rock," who uses his amazingstrength to pull a 156-ton airplane!
- Read about the man who built his own iron suit to stand in the center of a fireworks display.
- Check out Jorge Ivan Latorre Robles, who can stretch his skin, pop out his eyes and dislocate his joints, allowing him to fold himself into a suitcase!
- Get the lowdown on a goldfish that underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor.
Beautiful sunday to you!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to get one of these books for Mica. I think he'd love it. He's been carrying a fact book around with him about animals. This would be even more fun.
ReplyDeleteI have a few of the Ripley's Believe it or Not books. May have to get the newest one as well. Someday I'd love to visit one of their attractions.
ReplyDeleteThese books sound fun and interesting. I think my nephews would love reading them.
