Soccer Fever hitting your house? #Soccerborg #WorldCup

As much as I love watching the University of Georgia Football team, not everyone knows about the college I attended.  It was a small liberal arts college that did not even have a football team!  (UGA was just too big for me, I never tried to go there!)  My college did have soccer though and of course I was friends with many on the soccer team.  Actually my roommate my first year played soccer, so there you go. Sadly, I don't know much about it, but I do like watching it.  Broxton has played a couple seasons, so when we were given the chance to review the new SOCCERBORG game from TOMY, I knew we would enjoy it!

I had the package delivered to my job, so of course I had to open it up and check it out there.  My first thought was that it reminded me of the robot battling game from back in the day... I knew it was going to be a hit, but a co-worker was quick to voice her opinion.  She stated that it looked to childish and that her 8 year old wouldn't play it. Another co-worker and I thought that it looked like a fun game our kids would play.  As soon as I brought it home, both kids wanted to play it.. but mom fail here, I didn't think about the need for batteries.  10 to be exact.    10 AAA if you want to prepare before purchasing!

Anything BIG brother likes, she thinks she needs to love as well.  Of course, soccer is one of them!

What I like about the game:
1 - easy to assemble.
2 - Blue and Red, gender neutral colors
3-  Two balls if you want to practice before a match
4 - Includes stickers if you want to put numbers or names on the robots

What I did not like about the game:
1 - I really am not a fan of putting all the stickers on to make it look more like a robot, I get OCD on making sure they are all on straight.  I wish they would have just made it the way it was to be without the stickers and just allowed for names / numbers if you wanted them.
2- Once you open it, there really is no way to store the set.
3 - The goals are just paper.  Maybe they could find a way to make plastic goals that snap together to create a storage box?  (HELLO, great idea right there!)

Savannah has claimed this more as a game for her, but we will all be sharing it.  We have had a great time playing it, but I tell you this... I need more practice on how to steal the ball.  I get stuck and then they score on me!  If you visit the SOCCERBORG site, you will see they have a couple moves on there for you to learn, if I could just remember the order during a match!
I love that this is perfect to have for a family game night.  It is also a great way to keep the TV or Games at a minimum and have more of a hands on fun.  We have really had fun and the fact is that they are not that bulky.  I think this would be perfect to take on trips in case there is a rainy day that calls to be inside for a little bit.    This would be fun to play on commercial breaks while watching the World Cup too, you know... bring the fun home?!
Have you seen SOCCERBORG?  Does this seem like a game you and your family would enjoy?  It says for ages 6 and up, but as long as there is supervision, I think the younger kids will have a great time with it as well!!
Thanks to TOMY for the set to review!

  1. This does look fun. We went through soccer a few seasons. Now we're on season five of basketball and my son is smitten. :) He still likes to play soccer too. He would like this, for sure.

  2. I like soccer way more than football. I wanted Mica to get into it, but he never really did. Oh well.
