Nothing sweeter than hearing my sweet girl read to me!   I love her little voice!   She has enjoyed this book and I love it too!  I loved to start her school year off with it too!  It is about a unicorn who has lost its horn, so duh... it is different as it isn't like all unicorns!  I mean, have you SEEN a unicorn with no horn?!   I didn't think so!  Well, read the book to see what happens!

Am I a Unicorn was written to teach children the valuable lessons of embracing one's uniqueness and accepting others for who they are inside.  The story touches on self-esteem and diversity, ultimately teaching the important lesson of accepting one's individuality.

Sorkin, a mother of 3 herself, was inspired to write "Am I a Unicorn?" as a way of opening up a discussion about what it's like to be different, hoping that children will realize that as much as everyone wants to be accepted, it's most important to accept ourselves. Rather than use all Unicorns in the story, she chose to use a diverse array of animals to give children a chance to see that not everyone's the same before even reading a single word of the book.

What are you reading???
