Shiny Happy People - Review
I love the holidays. It seems a bit forced for some... and rushed for most... but I love that families TRY to come together. I mean, it is sad that sometimes the only time you see them is at the holidays, but it really is better than nothing, right? For me, I love the family time.. The love, the traditions, the giggles and the laughs. That being said, I thought today, the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS was a perfect time to share this book with you... Shiny Happy People!

Shiny Happy People (R.E.M., Illustrated by Paul Hoppe with Shinyeon Moon, Nov. 15) is an illustrated adaptation of the hit 1991 R.E.M. song “Shiny Happy People.” This lively picture book follows the unlikely friendship between a rabbit and a fox as they teach others about the joy of inclusion and acceptance. It is the perfect vehicle for R.E.M. fans to share a loving and positive message with children of all ages. R.E.M. were a Georgia-born alternative rock band best known for their hits “Losing My Religion” and “Everybody Hurts.” The band released fifteen albums, toured the world, won multiple GRAMMYs, two Billboard Music Awards, twelve MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, leaving a lasting legacy of great songs that defined an era.
I thought today was a perfect day, because when the holidays are all over and done, we still need to look for the Shiny Happy People out there... and what better time to start than NOW? I was excited to get this book... for a a few reasons...
One - Great book/ song/ message
Two- They are from Athens, Georgia- GO DAWGS!!!!
Three- Perfect gift to give to my new nephew! (I am determined to add to his library and make him love to read like the rest of the family!)
Do you have any of the music adapted books out there? (We actually "read" thook while listening to the song... Savannah thought that was kind of cool!)
