Recipe Club - Book Review

I recently received a copy of The Recipe Club: A Tale of Food and Friendship
by Andrea Israel & Nancy Garfinkel from FSB Media.

I really enjoyed this book, I thin k one reason I did so was because it was different from most that I read. It is about these two girls who are friends and decide to start a "Recipe
Club."
The story is basically told through the correspondence of letters through the years. It starts with today, and as we all know, the art of letter writing is dying, so of course it is through email.
Then, it back tracks to actually tell the story and that is where the letters come in. They would send a letter and with the letter a recipe that just so happened to be named by what was going on in the letter.

The recipes seem pretty good and I know I will be trying some out!
Chocolate Chip
Cannolis, Starry Night Scampi, Confetti Spaghetti... those are just a few of the recipes that are shared in this book.

I did have a hard time relating with either of the girls...
At times, I even found myself getting frustrated with them..
BUT, we do travel with them through their early years all the way to their adult life.
So, we get to basically read about them growing up.

I enjoyed the artwork that was included on the recipes...
As well as in the book at the end of the letters, it made me feel like I was reading an actual copy of their letter.

I like the book for one main reason that it was different.
I enjoyed reading their letters and then seeing what recipe was added to their club.
Reading this book did make me miss the whole letter writing thing a bit though!
Check out the
FSB website where you can learn more about this book as well as others.

Have you read this book? Have you ever read a fiction book that adds recipes throughout it?

***** I recieved a complimentary copy of The Recipe Club for review purposes from FSB Media.
The opinions expressed in this review are my own. *****

  1. Sounds really cool... I've never seen anything like it. I think I'll recommend it for my book club next year. I'd love to try the chocolate chip cannolis - mmmm.
    Thanks for a great review.
