Let me start this post by saying...
I am not a wine connoisseur. Bottom line.
|Yes, I worked in a bar for 10 years, but I just really could not get into the wine drinking.
You see, my friends would have a nice glass of wine after work, or with dinner...
I did find that a couple of the wines I did like, I just honestly could not afford.
So, that being said... I keep on looking.
I actually went on a wine tasting once...
It was fun, but I could not verbally explain it like the others.
You know what I mean, the sipping, sniffing, swishing and spitting.
Then, discussing the aroma and flavors...
I would answer briefly.
I liked it or I didn't.
The reason I am telling you this?
Because I just reviewed a bottle of
Sofia Rose.
It is from the Francis Ford Coppola Winery.
I was very impressed with the bottle and the color.
With Marc's work schedule, he can't drink ... and I knew I wasn't downing a bottle by myself...
So, we waited and took it to my parents house.
Let me state this: They are not wine drinkers at all...
We were hanging out at the house and I decided to open it up...
I thought the smell was a bit sweet, not sweet fruity, but not the strong scent that I normally smell with wine.
I gave a glass to my mom, she immediately did not like it.
To the point that she would not drink past the first taste.
(She doesn't drink that often, so I was surprised she even tried it.)
My dad was surprised and kept saying "It isn't bitter!"
I guess other wine's he has tried has been bitter, but he was surprised with this one!
Marc on the other hand... Well, he finished it for her!
Marc and I liked it. Marc, more than me...
I thought that it was better than most other wines that I have tried.
It was a bit light and refreshing.
I am not one to know pairings or anything, but to me, this seems like a wine that would work nice to enjoy on the weekend.
As in, fix a glass and just relax in the yard...
Maybe curl up in a swing with a good book and enjoy a glass of wine with the fresh air.
I was actually talking to a friend about this and she made me laugh.
She said that the description sounded more like a great juice than a wine and she might have to try it out!!!!
I will say that I have heard of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery, but not this particular wine.
Come to find out, it is named after his daughter, Sophia!
As you prepare for the holidays, keep this in mind.
It would make a great addition to any get together that you might have...
Not to mention a great gift for the hard to buy for on your list!
I feel that this would also make a lovely hostess gift and it is very affordable!
From their site:
Feminine and stylish, with a fragrant perfume of fresh strawberries and lavendar, this rosé explodes with ripe, juicy flavors of cherry, raspberry and citrus zest. This refreshing wine is reminiscent of the popular dry rosés served in seaside café along the French Riviera. It’s crisp, delicate, and elegantly fruity with just a kiss of spice on the finish.
We typically harvest the grapes for our Sofia Rosé at a lower brix to ensure we get a light wine that pairs elegantly with food. For color extractions, the grapes are cold-soaked for 48 hours before the juice is separated from the skins.
