Very Chaotic Week, To Say The Least...
I just wanted to say sorry for basically falling off lately...
The last week and a half has been absolutely chaotic and emotional...
That is putting it mildly.
My father-in-law passed away and that was a very emotional time.
Having to tell my husband that his dad passed away was a very hard thing for me...
Add to it that I had to do it over the phone... and while he was at work... Yeah, that made it a million times more difficult...
I thought that was the hardest thing I had to do... but it did not prepare me for having to tell Broxton that his Papa John had passed away... To be honest, I thought that was going to be sort of easy, as he really doesn't understand death... but when I told him... and his tears started flowing, yeah... mama was crying right along with him.
We ended up having to go to Louisiana to help in the funeral preparations of it all...
I sort of took control of "speaking for the family" and luckily it was all technical paperwork information...
It was just difficult to do, since we are in Georgia... he was in Louisiana with a daughter and then the rest of the family is in California. All was going okay (as can be expected) until I started doing the finalization for his service to be in Arlington National Cemetery... That was when it hit home...
We planned to get home safe and sound... but then we were stuck down there due to the ICE.
Roads were closed and our truck even got ICED in the parking lot... leaving us no choice but to stick it out in the hotel... We weren't the only ones, over 100 people ended up having to extend their stay due to the roads being closed to the airport...
We FINALLY were able to head home on Thursday... and we eventually made it...
We did see several wrecks on the way home... People sliding because of the Ice and what not...
We got home Thursday evening, after being on ice at times as well...
Anyways, we are FINALLY home... and I am still working on the funeral arrangements for Arlington.
*They say it can be weeks / months before his service.
I am trying to get through my emails now... and back to blogging soon....
Hope you all bear with me at this time!
How is the weather where you are?

How is the weather where you are?
I feel for your family. Having to deal with death is hard!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got back safe.
It snowed last night. 2" were on the ground. It's melting fast. It's so dry here. We're actually having state wide fire issues because of how dry it is. :(
*HUGS*
ReplyDeleteI"m so sorry for your loss Noelle.
It is hard. Give yourself all the time you need.
The ice was pretty bad here in LA. I'm so glad your trip was safe. There were many accidents indeed!
*HUG*
My son is there, at Arlington, doing the funerals. Such a beautiful tribute, but it gets to me every single time when I see one too.
