Not sure who all knows this, but I am from South Georgia. My grandadady was a farmer, so I have seen a tractor or two in my life. (No, I don't know much about them, but I have seen them through the years.) When Broxton was little, he thought they were pretty neat and even now when we go home and see the tractors out there on the field doing their work, he always comments on them. I thought it would be neat to review one of the books in the Casey and Friends Series...
The book we were sent was BIG TRACTORS with Casey and Friends by Holly Dufek. The great thing about reviewing this book was the fact that we were sent a toy model tractor like the one on the cover of the book. For both Broxton and I, it was neat to be able to hold in our hands what we were reading about.
In Big Tractors, we learn about tractors and other farm equipment with real photographs, but they appeal to kids of all ages, as they have an illustrated version of the tractor on the side that provides conversation.

Each page is full of information that might be new to both kids and adults.
I love that they incorporate photography and illustration on the pages.
The end of the book features a Glossary to help with the words that might not be familiar.

We really enjoyed the Big Tractor book and I have noticed Broxton looking at it off and on. The other day, he came up out of no where to tell me thank you for the really cool model tractor he got! I'd give this to my nephew Edison. Nope surprise we don't see tractors where I live. You'd think living in Nebraska I'd see them out my back door. I live in a small city, so no tractors.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in GA. I helped a small school. I helped kids read. Well they drew pictures for their helpers, and had all kinds of corn by me. I had to giggle. No corn near me, unless I plant it myself. I don't have to drive too far to see it though.
This book and tractor would be for my grandsons! They would love this! We live north of metro Atlanta. Our county is growing fast, but there are still farms in the northern part of the county and my grandsons love seeing farming equipment.

ReplyDeleteIt would be for my youngest, but I'm sure all three of my boys would love to play with the tractor and look at the book. We have a riding lawnmower and my boys call it our tractor. When my husband mows our field he attaches the trailer and they call it a tractor ride. They love it. :) Thanks for the chance!
