Updated post, since we are about to make a few book drops to our local Little Free Libraries to set off the Christmas Season! (Sadly, we can't part with our Josh Funk books, but we did share a few others!)
As much as we love books around here, it is always a great time when we get a set of new books from Sterling Children's Books for review! Our absolute favorite kids author is with them and the excitement from the kids... and myself when we see a new release from him? If you have not read a book from Josh Funk, you are missing out... just an FYI that my kids and I would agree on!

A heartwarming picture book about the power of allies to lift others up . . . and the sparkling magic of glitter!
Blaine’s a boy who loves to shine . . . well actually, he loves to sparkle. Whether it's his uniform, his book bag, or even his baseball cap, Blaine’s all about the bling. But when his bling rubs some people the wrong way, and the bullying begins, Blaine—along with the entire school—starts to lose his shine. Can Blaine's friends bring back his glimmer and gleam by glittering up their own wardrobes? This delightful story proves that anyone can love bling, and that happiness comes when allies band together to throw glitter—not shade.

A heartwarming picture book with a fresh twist on a Hanukkah celebration: celebrating a ninth night with new neighbors and friends!
It’s Hanukkah, and Max and Rachel are excited to light the menorah in their family’s new apartment. But, unfortunately, their Hanukkah box is missing. So now they have no menorah, candles, dreidels, or, well, anything! Luckily, their neighbors are happy to help, offering thoughtful and often humorous stand-in items each night. And then, just as Hanukkah is about to end, Max and Rachel, inspired by the shamash (“helper”) candle, have a brilliant idea: they’re going to celebrate the Ninth Night of Hanukkah as a way to say thanks to everyone who’s helped them!
This book is not only a heartwarming and fun story, it’s also an invitation to join in a beautiful new Hanukkah tradition!

Meet Juliette, girl judge! She’s set up her own backyard court. But what will she do when her own parents come to fight it out . . . over a pet? A must-read for fans of Sonya Sotomayor’s Turning Pages: My Life Story and I Dissent: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Makes Her Mark.
Court is in session, with Judge Juliette presiding! Ever since preschool, Juliette’s favorite game has been settling cases. This young girl, with a firm sense of fairness, adjudicates all kinds of neighborhood disputes right from her own backyard—from determining a fair bedtime to figuring out where to locate competing lemonade stands. But now she’s faced with the toughest decision of all: her parents have finally agreed to let her have a pet . . . and they’ve come to her court to argue over whether to get a cat (dad’s request) or a dog (mom’s preference). What will Juliette do?

Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast are back with a twist: they’ve been transformed into small children. Now it’s a race against the clock to turn our favorite duo into grown-ups again!
Lady Pancake is aching; Sir French Toast’s looking pale. Could they be going . . . STALE? Maybe a visit to Professor Biscotti’s lab for her despoiling procedure will help. But instead of beautifying them, Biscotti accidentally transforms the two treats into toddlers! Frightened of the now gargantuan (to them) Baron von Waffle, the mini breakfast foods scamper off on an adventure in the fridge, visiting everywhere from the Bran Canyon to Limes Square. Will Baron von Waffle and Professor Biscotti figure out a way to turn them back into a grown Lady and Sir? Or will they stay short & sweet forever?
It's nice to see another family so into books. Seems like they were going by the wayside due to electronic preferences. I'd love to see a book revival. :)
