Samantha : An American Girl Holiday DVD

Yes, this is a house full of boys...
But I have heard of the American Girl Dolls.
What I did not know was a few other things...

One, these are not just dolls...
They all have a story.
Which leads to part two...
There are also books!

The best part?
I was able to learn about Samantha.
No, I did not read a book or get a doll...
They just released a DVD on her.

I have to tell you...
It was really good!
Shhhhhhh...
I even got a bit teary eyed!
Yes, I sure did!!!!

Samantha : An American Girl Holiday is the story about Samantha.
A sweet young girl that lives with her grandmother, Grandmary.
Both of Samantha's parents have passed and although she loves her Grandmary, all she really wants is a friend her own age. Imagine, it would get a bit lonely...
A man and his three daughters move in next door as the new servants and although there is a difference in the "class levels," it does not bother Samantha.

I really loved how this movie shows what is important to children.
Samantha quickly becomes friends with Nellie, the young girl that works next door.
Although society would say that due to the economical difference between the two they should not be friends...
That does not stop the two of them!

This movie shows the struggles of families during that time period...
(It takes place in 1904)
But it also shows that love really knows no boundaries!

Special Features on the DVD include:

Ø An all-new special feature: Votes For Women: An American Girl:Samantha.

Samantha: An American Girl Holiday joins descendants of the real American Suffragists in a discussion about getting votes for women and the journey for equal rights.

Ø Mount Bedford News: A Victorian Wedding. A featurette including footage from the wedding scene in the movie.

I think that this is a great movie to watch with your family...
(If you can get boys to watch an "American Girl" movie!)

This would be great for all the American Girl fans you know!!!!

  1. The dolls are made beautifully so I'm sure the movie is too!

  2. I loved these books when they first came out in the 80's, and the Samantha doll was one of my most memorable gifts as a girl. I was disappointed to hear that they now "archive" the dolls and their sets, and that the first to go were some of my favorites!
