Countdown to Christmas: 24 Days of the Jesse Tree Tradition is an interactive picture book with 24 days of the Jesse Tree Tradition. This is a story for the entire family to learn more about people in the Bible and see their connection to Jesus.  Included in the book are activities, cut-out ornaments to hang on your Jesse tree and with each story comes a better understanding of what Christmas is really about.
Since having Broxton, I try to be the best mom I can be.  I try to do thing that will be great memories and I am trying to start cute traditions with him.  When he started preschool, we started reindeer food for the reindeer outside  (oats and colored sugar.)  He makes cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve.  I get PJ's for all the boys and they wear them on Christmas Eve (of course we get pictures!)
A couple years ago we started a tradition of me wrapping several books and each night we grab one from the stack to read before bed.  ***  Please note, It DOES NOT have to be all new books! I normally mix in a few new books with a few old books he already has.  Another thing?  I have a few Christmas themed books mixed in with others too!  Finally, you can do a 24 countdown, or just 12... totally up to you!  (We do normally end with a specially wrapped book the last night... Twas the Night Before Christmas.)
This year, we will be adding a new tradition.
We were sent Countdown to Christmas - 24 Days of The Jesse Tree Tradition.

Are you familiar with this book?
This book has different stories about people in the Bible. The story for each day is on a 2 page spread.  At the end of the book is more of a card stock that has the different ornaments that go with each story.
I have decided that we will go a bit of a different route.  It says you can get a small tree and hang the ornaments on it.  We will be drawing a tree and putting it up on his bedroom door.  Each night after we read the story, we will let him go and sticky tape his ornament for the day on the tree.  After the holidays are over, we will laminate the ornaments and keep them for the next year.  This is a great way for us to all become a bit more familiar with those in the Bible.

I really like this book and the thought behind it.  The only thing I don't like?
I wish they made some form of a pocket or something to keep the ornaments for future years without them getting bent or lost.

Do you have any traditions for the holidays?

  1. We always get a chocolate advent calendar. One year I had trouble finding them. This year I noticed that they were in the front of Trader Joes, so I snatched them up.
