Today I want to share with you a snack we have tried in the past and loved, but oh my goodness, we tried a new variety and I am in desperate need to go and buy more ASAP!
Garden Lites.  Are you familiar with them?

Garden Lites is proud to honor all of their customers who choose a healthy lifestyle, including those who are gluten-free—whether they suffer from Celiac Disease that impacts over 3 million Americans, or simply choose a wheat free diet for other reasons. Garden Lites aims to satisfy these customers’ needs with an entire range of delicious gluten-free foods for anyone making gluten-free choices, whether they have Celiac or just prefer gluten-free!
Oh my word.  These Veggie Cakes are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

Available in the refrigerated section, Garden Lites Superfood Veggie Cakes are delicious, vegetarian and only 100 calories! The first and main ingredient in every Garden Lites product is always a vegetable, and the Superfood Veggie Cakes are no exception, packed with seven delicious vegetable ingredients. Superfood Veggie Cakes are perfect for healthy snacking on-the-go, or also as a quick side dish at home to go along perfectly with any meal. It’s never been easier to eat seven vegetables at once.
I'm sneaky.  I didn't tell anyone what these were, except for breakfast muffins.  Once they tried them (and the chocolate) and enjoyed them, then I let them know they were full of veggies!

Perfectly packaged for your child’s lunchbox are Garden Lites muffins, delicious, filling treats in which the first, and main ingredient is always a vegetable! With just the right amount of sweetness and flavor, these muffins are great for breakfast, lunch, dessert or anytime snack. All varieties are gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy free, Kosher Parve, low in calories and a great source of fiber with 3g of fiber, and 5g of whole grains.  These two ounce muffins are individually wrapped making them great for portability. They can be heated up in the microwave in only 35 seconds or can also be enjoyed at room temperature which is especially great for on-the-go snacking.  Best of all, busy parents can pack the muffins in their children’s lunchbox in the morning, and by lunchtime, they will be perfectly room temperature and ready to be enjoyed!

So, my take on them?  I thought they were wonderful.  Like I said, I was able to review some in the past and while I enjoyed them, the husband didn't so much.  (He saw the packaging and I think it threw a flag up.)  I love vegetables, so it was no surprise to me that I would enjoy.  This time around, I didn't let him see the packaging and once I took them from the freezer and heated them up, I put them in a travel container for him to take to work.  He actually enjoyed them and commented about how great they were.  I will tell you this, I only let him try the muffins.  I had originally planned to have the veggie cakes be part of our dinner one night, but after trying them beforehand, I knew this was a guilty pleasure I would only be sharing with myself.  I actually had them for lunch and dinner on several days, each day thinking I would share, but enjoyed it too much to pass along.  Hey, just being honest here!  Savannah actually enjoyed the muffins too and with Broxton it is never a big deal to get him to eat his vegetables... He loves them for the most part! I do plan on buying more of the veggie cakes, they were AMAZING and I promise to let them get a taste this next time around!

I think that the Garden Lites line would be a great addition to lunches for the kids.  I also think they would make great after school snacks.  I did notice that they have several "veggie bites" flavors and I know I want to try them all out. Don't even get me started on the entrees!  If the muffins and veggie cakes taste this good, I can only imagine the flavor in those!

Do you think this is a treat your family would enjoy?  Are you all vegetable eaters already?

  1. I think all of these sound so good.
I'd especially like to try the blueberry and oat muffins.

  4. I'd like to try the Blueberry Oat ones. I love how they make the other type smaller, as to not draw attention to it. I made zucchini brownies, and made the mistake of saying out loud that I used zucchini up in them. The boys were hesitant to eat them after that, but loved them before.

  5. These do sound good! And to know they are good for you makes you feel it is OK to have another ... and maybe another!
