An elephant in the sky? A peacock in the sea? Are creatures hiding where they shouldn't be? Lift the large flaps, follow the romping rhyme, and find each face that's out of place. Graphic artist Craig Shuttlewood whisks kids from desert to forest to ocean deep—and finally to the zoo, where the only one who doesn't fit is YOU! His outstanding debut introduces the idea of where animals (and humans) live-and will delight kids over and over again.
I am a fan of (some of) the lift the flap books since kids seem to really enjoy them... With the latest one we were sent, I loved the whole thing... It is totally different, in that the things hiding behind the flaps are not what you would expect... but then as you turn each page, the previous hidden character is now tucked into the corner of the page... As we go through the book, we meet several characters and then at the end, there is a "summary" of sorts to make sure that the reader was able to correctly name all the different characters!

Are you a "lift the flap" fan?
That is neat the way they reiterate what you've seen on the previous pages. I like the flap books, if they're sturdy.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a lift the flap fan for itty bitty kids. They rip them off. Once they are old enough to be careful they are great.
