I will be the first to tell you that I am not a "girly girl."  I do not wear makeup (except for special occasions) and I don't wear dresses.  There is nothing wrong with that, just like I think there is nothing wrong with me NOT wanting to do the same.  Don't get me wrong, I used to wear makeup all the time and I used to get my nails done ALL THE TIME...   Just not these days.  I do love a nice pedicure and I love to be pampered...  but that is not the point of this blog post.  I wanted to tell you about WHY I only paint one of my fingernails.
I received a collection of different colored nail polish from duri cosmetics for review.  I just loved the colors as they are not the "normal" colors that I would pick when getting a pedicure. Actually, one of the bottles SCREAMED the name of a loved one, so you can guess what was in her gift bag of goodies last time I saw her!  (For the record, it was the Live It Up! Color... Beautiful, but more of a shade for her than for me.) Anyways, I was trying to decide what color I wanted to use first (pedicures are great for trying different colors and for relaxing!)  I decided to go with the Feeling Beautiful color, it is a nice rose color and perfect for someone like me that is just now staring to fall in love with the pink tones these days.   As I was riding along, I started noticing car tags and one stood out to me.
Psalm 150 - I will admit that I am not one to know scripture, so as soon as I could, I googled to see what that scripture said.  Praise  ye the Lord!
So, why paint one nail?
I know that I am a Christian.  I know that I believe in God and I try to live a good life.  I also know that I am a sinner ... and I know that I fail daily.  I painted my nail, my thumbnail, as a reminder of me that I am forgiven and to Praise the Lord. In the good and the bad, through it all, His love never fails and I need to remember to not only pray daily, but also to sing his praises!   Also, the nail is not painted perfectly.  It is chipped and that is fine by me.(It seems to be holding up well, it is chipped because I did not paint it all the way to the tip.) It just goes to show that nothing is perfect and I am a perfect example!   I will tell you this, I have painted just my thumb for a couple weeks now and I have noticed that I pray more.  (It is sad to admit, but so very true.)  If I am in carpool and look down at my thumb, I say a quick Praise the Lord and sing his praises.  If I am at home watching TV and look down at my thumb, I Praise the Lord and say a quick prayer for friends and family.
Yes, I might look weird, but it is something to help me on my daily journey.

So, that is why I paint my nail.
On the other hand, (no pun intended) I do love the colors and the names!  Yes, I used to pick out the colors based upon the name when at the salon.  If you are looking for a great gift (Valentines is coming up.)  You could buy an assortment of the duri colors and give a gift card for a mani/pedi.  I know I would love it!

  1. I like the orange, which looks like it has a touch of red in it.

I love my nails painted, but it always chips off. I'm either typing, painting, or doing dishes. Nail polish just doesn't last long on me.
