Help Get Hess Trucks in the National Toy Hall of Fame

This is not a paid or sponsored post.  I have worked with Hess in the past and think that this would be a great thing to share with you all. All thoughts are my own.

Did you know that there was a National Toy Hall of Fame?
I had NO CLUE until recently... but let me tell you something now - I bet it would be amazing to see what all is in there... I look back at the toys I had as a kid and think they are pretty neat.. the nostalgia of looking at the toys my mom and dad played with is great and I think when Broxton is older, to be able to share with his kids the toys he LOVED as a child is going to be an amazing connection and journey.  I mean, think about it... who doesn't love toys?  Maybe not anymore, but I am pretty sure you did at one point in your life.

Let me tell you more about this Hall of Fame ...
It was established in 1988.

It is housed at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY.
Only 53 toys have ever been inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame.
Nominations to the Hall of Fame can be made online or by sending a letter...
There is a certain criteria to be met for consideration...

·         Icon-status: The toy is widely recognized, respected, and remembered
·         Longevity: The toy is more than a passing fad and has enjoyed popularity over multiple generations
·         Discovery: The toy fosters learning, creativity, or discovery through play
·         Innovation: The toy profoundly changed play or toy design. A toy may be inducted on the basis of this criterion without necessarily having met all of the first three.

Remember when I reviewed the Hess Truck when the design was revealed?
Well, they are working to try and get the Hess Toy Truck into the Hall of Fame...
Why now?
This year is the 50th anniversary of Hess Toy Trucks and this would be awesome!
I think Hess Toy Trucks are great... To be honest, when I told my dad about it ... and he saw Broxton's truck, he actually admitted that he was a bit jealous... He thought that the Hess Truck would make a great collection and he was a bit upset that he did not start a collection years ago.  He even mentioned " Hess is a name that has been around for a long time" and also something about these trucks will stand up to rough play with kids!  They are quality made!  If you know my dad, you would be shocked.  He doesn't collect anything (unless you count the 20+ coolers he has gathered through the years!  Can never have enough for a tailgate!).. and he sure enough doesn't have toys laying around these days...  I was tempted to purchase him a truck of his own to start a collection now, although it would be a bit late in life... but I knew my mom would not let that fly!

So- do you want to be a part of history?
Head on over to the Toy Hall of Fame nomination page and submit your reason why you think Hess would be a great addition to their collection!
(You can also visit the Hess Toy Truck Website to look at their collection through the years!)

  2. I remember your post on the Hess Truck. And I did ask my MIL for the ones back that we gave her. She said she'd bring a couple back, but she didn't. I figured she wouldn't. ;) She's a huge hoarder. My fault for giving them up to start with, I know. :)

  3. It's a cute truck! I think I like toys as much as the kids do! There is a toy museum in KC that I love going to when I'm there.
