To be honest, I am not sure what has me more excited... the game or the commercials!!!   But one thing is for sure... I am excited for all the yummy food to be enjoyed! No matter if you are having a party, or a quiet night at home with the immediate family, there is an excuse to eat all sorts of yummy treats that you might not enjoy at other times throughout the year... What do you eat? Pizza?  Burgers?  Hot Dogs? All sorts of appetizer / munchies?   I have already been thinking about what all I want to have here... but the thing is, we aren't having a party... So I don't need to have ALL that I want!!  I do know tha...

Very Chaotic Week, To Say The Least...

I just wanted to say sorry for basically falling off lately... The last week and a half has been absolutely chaotic and emotional... That is putting it mildly. My father-in-law passed away and that was a very emotional time. Having to tell my husband that his dad passed away was a very hard thing for me... Add to it that I had to do it over the phone... and while he was at work... Yeah, that made it a million times more difficult... I thought that was the hardest thing I had to do... but it did not prepare me for having to tell Broxton that his Papa John had passed away... To be honest, I thought that was going to be sort of easy, as he really doesn't understand death... but when I told him... and his tears started flowing, yeah... mama was crying right along with him. We ended up having to go to Louisiana to help in the funeral preparations of it all... I sort of took control of "speaking for the family" and luckily it was all technical paperwork information... It was...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Being an avid reader my whole life, I was one of the ones that enjoyed Chicken Soup for the Soul when it came out 20 years ago... I remember my days as a teenager, we would go and "hang out" at the mall for hours... Walking around... Meeting up with friends...  Goofing off... and of course, I would have to stop in the book store to see what all was available.  (Okay, I had to check out the music store too, but this is about the books!) I am sure I could find some of the original Chicken Soup Books if I look through my "library." I know there is the original... and probably a couple of the teenage ones as well!   Talk about showing your age... Chicken Soup for the Soul just released their ...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I know a book that we will for sure be reading more and more closer to summer time.  Fobie Friends - Hold Your Seahorses!  Water is the WORST!   You see, this book follows a little girl that loves the beach... but doesn't want to go anywhere near the water.... This is Broxton if I have ever seen it.  He LOVES the pool... and LOVES baths... but there is something about the ocean that he HATES.  The one time we took him to the beach, he had a blast, playing in the sand the whole time.. but as soon as we took him near the water, it was a nightmare and he did not like it one bit...  Hopefully reading this book to him several times will get him to realize it really is a fun time!!! Hold Y...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. The second book that we were able to read from Fobie Friends was Climb the Monkey Bars?  That's Bananas!!  I was happy for this one, as I wanted to make sure Broxton is not afraid of heights... You see, I am not afraid of heights, but I am TERRIFIED of falling... so, most times, I will not climb and do things for my fear... I don't want Broxton to ever be held back, so this was a great one for him to read!   He loved it and as with the other Fobie Book, he loved the rhyming and excitement through it all.  Another thing I loved about this?  The main character is with his Papa on this one... (not the typical mom or dad that are in so many of the books!)   Climb the Monkey Bars? That'...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Broxton has never really been "scared" of anything too terribly much... But, for some reason, once we bought this house, he started showing a few fears.  I know some of it has to do with the fact that he has big brothers being typical big brothers... but then other fears are just that of young children.  I am not overly concerned, but I did think it was absolutely awesome that we were sent a few books that show that many people are scared of many different things. The first book for us - Did My Owl Just Growl.  I wanted to read it first, since it was a funny title and I wanted to see what the owl was going to do... (I had no clue at the time that it was the first book in this series!)    Broxto...
