#HolidayGiftGuide - Drain Claw Review

This might be a bit of a nasty post...
But it is something most people deal with!

Have you ever had a clogged drain?
You know, you are standing there getting a shower and all of the water is taking a bit longer than normal to drain, so you are standing in water?
When we first moved into our apartment, we quickly realized that the person that lived here before us must have done something with hair... Either did hair from the apartment, had lots of wigs, had long hair that shed oh to fast... SOMETHING.
Why? There was hair everywhere.

Not that the apartment didn't clean it first, but we noticed hair in places that we had already cleaned before ourselves... Mainly, the drain. Finally, I called and told them they needed to send a plumber, as it just was not working for us... They sent maintenance and he worked and cleaned it out. It was nasty. That is all I am going to say, as I want you to keep reading.

My parents have a problem with their drain, so when I was given a chance to review the Drain Claw, I jumped on it! It arrived and I wanted to try it out. Our drain hasn't been that bad lately, but I still wanted to see...
Now, get ready for my technical description:
The Drain Claw is basically a long wire type thing. At the end is a small "bristle brush" looking contraption. You just put it in the drain and twist. The "brush" catches the hair and removes it when you pull it out.
Then, I did it and I wish I hadn't seen it. It was GROSS! Of course, the first little bit was all of my hair. Hey, I used to have long hair and yep, I lost plenty of it each day. I cleaned it off and went back. At this point, I was pulling out hair that was not ours! It has to have been the people here before us... As soon as I finished and cleaned up, I called a friend to tell her about it. I made the comment that our apartment needs to own one of these and they should use it to clean the drains of each apartment before new tenants move in! I was really impressed.

Thankfully, I did NOT take any pictures of the result...
It was not pretty... and there is no way that I could have posted them, just telling you the results was gross enough!

I think that every house needs one of these, as it really surprised me with the result!!!
I also think that every apartment complex needs one...
To help when a clogged drain occurs... and to use during new tenant preparations to prevent such accidents from occurring.

I am adding this to my Holiday Gift Guide.
Why?
Well, if you have guests coming to spend time with you over the holidays...
Wouldn't you like to use this to prevent any clogged drains with company there?!

Comments

  1. My daughter's shower clogs ALL the time. It's mostly her husband because he's a pretty hairy guy. I should tell her about this!

  2. I didn't even know there was such a thing. That's so much better than undoing the elbow underneath the sink (which is what I've been doing). Great product!

  3. This sounds like a must have in ALL homes! Long hair or not over time drains clogged! Have you tried in a kitchen sink yet? Bet that would be just lovely LOL
