The Bear Went Over the Mountain by @IzaTrapani is a Nightly Read Now

We had the chance to review a new children's book not to long ago and it has a permanent place beside the bed for night time reading!!!!
The Bear Went Over the Mountain by Iza Trapani is such a cute book!

When we first got it, I read it to Broxton a few times..

We looked and talked about the different items in the pictures...
From counting to finding to talking about the different senses...

Then, Broxton had Marc read it to him one night..

Marc started reading it and was like "this is like a song to me" ... It was then that I showed him the music in the back if he wanted to sing it!

I had no clue that this was a "classic children's song" but I am glad that it was made into a book.

We have had so much fun discussing the five senses...
We had been talking about them a little, but with the book, I have noticed that we talk about it a bit more now.  We also have been talking about the four seasons.  I never really thought about the fact that Broxton would need to know them, but thinking back, I remember talking about them in school.

I guess we can never start too early!

Broxton has decided that he enjoys reading this book, so it is read almost every night.

That means that either Mommy or Daddy reads it... Then, Broxton turns around and "reads" it back to us!
I love the sing song of the story.. the message and of course, the illustration.

In The Bear Went Over the Mountain, Bear starts off on a journey to go over the mountain...
He climbs the mountain... smells flowers... gets pricked by a porcupine... so many events in this one book!

You know you want to join bear on this adventure!!!!
After visiting Iza Trapani's site... there are so many other books that I just have to get soon!
(How Much is that Doggie in the Window?  and Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush are just two of many that caught my eye!)

Have you ever heard of  THE BEAR WENT OVER THE MOUNTAIN before today?

  4. Oh, I didn't know the music was included in the back - that's great! I don't know the tune to the classic song, so that will be very helpful. I'm also trying to decide which other one to get...I'm leaning toward Twinkle Twinkle since my boys are still so young (and obsessed with the night sky).

Thanks for this great review - I've shared it on Twitter!
