Ode to Childhood #Poetry

Having such a love for books, I thought it was only fitting to share this with you...
I hate to admit that I am not a huge poetry fan...  * Not sure why, I used to be!
But, I wanted to celebrate not only OUR CHILDREN, but the CHILD IN ALL OF US!

Celebrate children! Featuring work by some of the world's great poets, this beautifully illustrated anthology captures all the charms, beauty, and love of childhood. The selections include William Blake's gentle “A Cradle Song,” Walt Whitman's “There Was a Child Went Forth,” and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's “The Children's Hour,” as well as verses by Milton, Wordsworth, Christina Rossetti, and more.
Samuel Carr was the editor of a series of anthologies of poetry, including Ode to the Countryside and Ode to Flowers, as well as Classic Hymns and Poems (all Batsford).

Are you a fan of poetry?  If so, who is your favorite?

  1. I wonder if reading this to your little one would reignite your flame for poetry? I love to read, but I'm not a huge fan of poetry either (with a few exceptions). I wonder if reading this to my little one would encourage me to like it more! It's amazing how things change when we see them through the perspective of our little ones. :) In any case, I think the book is a good idea.
