I shared with you the book, In the Forbidden City for ages 9 and older, but I also wanted to share with you a book that was geared for those ages 5-9.  This is an illustrated book that lets us go into The Forbidden City and see how nature inspired it.  The fact that nature is so beautiful and peaceful... It really makes you stop and think about your surroundings, the influences that go on and just how everything can work together.   (Including the animals!)

This is the Greatest Place is for kids ages 5-9.
Created by internationally renowned children’s book artists, this book teaches uses one of the world's most fascinating landmarks, Beijing’s Forbidden City, to show young readers how nature’s influence can be seen around us, and how people and animals can live together in harmony. Features a gatefold spread and lift-flaps.

I really enjoyed This is the Greatest Place.  I guess the older I get, I see all the negativity around us and to see this book and the beauty of it all, it really just put a smile on my face... Did it make me want to head on over to Beijing right now?  Of course it did!  Knowing that I can't anytime soon, at least I can experience the beauty this way!   I think that this is a wonderful book to introduce kids to all sorts of culture around them.
