Movie Review: Lola Versus (September 11, 2012)
After just watching Lola Versus, I can be so thankful that I am not that girl!
This movie had a cast that I can not say that I have ever seen before..
Except for the guy who played Henry... He was also the guy that played the brother, Matthew, in that TV Show, The New Adventures of Old Christine. Seriously, other than that, I knew no one... Well, at least not that I noticed... Okay, Okay... I googled and the friend is on that TV show, Whitney... and Debra Winger is in the movie too... Guess I am slacking on my celebrities these days...
Anyways, Lola is seriously Versus the world.
Like, I was saying it before I even saw the cover art...
Here is a girl that gets engaged... and as she and her parents are happily planning the wedding, her fiance leaves her... Her mom is totally spazzing out on the EX Future Mother In Law... (I guess that is what she is called...) as they were planning a "location wedding" and so many guests had already bought their tickets..
After Lola is dumped, she sort of spirals out of control... No, not a party chick or anything like that... Like totally secludes herself... Well, except for school.... And her one and only friend... Okay, make that two friends... and they were mutual friends of both and Lola is worried about them choosing sides and leaving her alone...
Moving on... Lola has plenty of ups and downs in the movie... I can not tell you about them, because I don't want to ruin it for you...
I will tell you this...
When you watch it, look for the part with the couple at the restaurant.... When Lola is their server and the lady orders a "Sangrigia" Ha ha ha... I was cracking up laughing at that part...
Oh, did I mention besides her having her fiance leave her... and dealing with the drama of who stays friends with who... She is also turning the big THREE OH?!
Yeah... it just keeps getting better!!!!
I will tell you this, make sure this is one that you watch when the kids aren't home...
It does have a bit of language, that I can normally just mute or pause...
But besides that, there are a couple of sex scenes in there (nothing too graphic, but kinda hard to pause when your preschooler walks in, as you never know what image is going to be on the screen!)

Synopsis:
Greta Gerwig sparkles in this offbeat romantic comedy about looking for answers - and finding yourself - in a complicated world. When 29-year-old Lola (Gerwig) is dumped by her fiancé Luke Joel Kinnaman) just three weeks before the wedding, she embarks on an emotional, year-long adventure of self-discovery filled with love, loss, hilarity and heartache. Guided (and often misguided) y the well-meaning advice of her close friends and eccentric parents, Lola's chaotic journey en route to the big 3-0 proves that a single tumultuous year can yield the lessons of a lifetime.
