Ha ha ha...
Have you ever read a kids book and find yourself cracking up laughing harder than the kids?
Well, I think that is the case here...
I know that this is meant to be a kids book, but let me tell you now...
I think that this is a book that should be given to all first time parents.
It is a great laugh... but it would be great because they would already be building up their kids library without thinking about it.
Kel Gilligan's Daredevil Stunt Show by Michael Buckley is awesome.
I mean, I was cracking up...
I loved it!
Kel Gilligan is one CRAZY Daredevil, I tell you now...
You open the book and prepare for it.. Just what is this kid going to do?
I mean, the kid is ready...
He has his helmet (you know, you have to be safe!) and he helps kids of all ages face their fear!
If Kel can do it, can't we all?!
Okay... so... I will sneak and tell you one daredevil stunt he did...
HE . TRIED. NEW. FOOD!
"He Put His Life At Risk!" Come on.. that is some kind of danger there buddy...
Broccoli at that!
Ha ha ha.
I love how they build up the excitement... and then you turn to see the awesome feat...
But the illustrator was doing an awesome job too, as the illustration of his feat is shown as the screen of a camcorder! What a great concept to showing this in a whole new way!!!
Honestly, as I said... it was such a cute book...
Eating Broccoli, Going Potty and more...
All deathly frightening to a little one just growing and learning, but too cute that mom and dad have to document it all!
About the book
From Michael Buckley, the bestselling author of the Sisters Grimm and NERDS series, and Dan Santat, author-illustrator of Sidekicks, comes this hilarious picture book starring Kel Gilligan (a.k.a. “The Boy Without Fear”) that encourages kids to laugh at their fears and celebrates the bravery it takes to try new things no matter how ordinary. Narrated by Kel himself as he attempts his “stunts” with Evel Knievel–like flair, the story unfolds as a performance in which readers themselves become part of the audience, encouraging Kel to get dressed all by himself (without a net!), eat new foods like broccoli (eww!), and take a bath (gasp!). Bold, interactive, and downright silly, this is a book to make kids cheer and attempt some “stunts” of their own.
That sounds like a funny book! The illustration on the cover is pretty cool to.
ReplyDeleteMy kids have no problem eating new foods.
Broccoli can be a risky adventure when you're a kid. I didn't even try it until I was grown. ;) This book sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling we'd LOVE it. THanks for the recommendation!
