Broxton mentions wanting to learn Spanish from time to time... I hate to admit it, but I am not that great... Yes, I took two years of classes, but I just do not remember the words.
( I do know some, so it's not that bad!)
When I had the chance to review a book that would help him learn Spanish, I was very excited!
Colores by Alejandra Poj is a great book for little hands.
It is a small paperback book.
(Perfect to throw in your purse to pull out while dining out!)
Colores is illustrated in simple pictures, so that the reader can focus more on reading the words versus getting involved in the illustrations!   Each page, has a couple lines of text... then a photo to go along with the words...  The words are in English, but then it gives a descriptive word and repeats the color word in Spanish.

Here is an example:

"Look at the ball.  It is orange.  It is round and naranja."

I liked how the book was put together as far as how it incorporated a new color on each page, but then ended with a color wheel reviewing the colors again.
If you are looking for a book to work on introducing Spanish... check it out!
You can purchase Colores on Amazon.

  1. Simple words, small in size, and bright colors--all of these make it a perfect book for a young child.

  2. This looks like a great way for children to begin to learn Spanish. I think it is great for children to know more than one language and it is so much easier to learn them as a child.

  3. My kindergartner has Spanish. It makes me laugh, but I like it. :)

  4. I love teaching my girls Spanish, thanks for the review. My 1st grader actually does Rosetta Stone in school to help learn Spanish. I'd like my 4 year old to pick more Spanish up as well!
