I have mentioned before how I love hair care...
Maybe it is because I am a redhead and I just love my hair...
Maybe because I love when I go to a salon and they wash and style my hair...
I am not sure, but I do know, if I could afford to go and have my hair done every day, I would be all over it... It is just so relaxing for me!!!

I was recently sent Shampoo and Conditioner from Philip Kingsley.
Let me be honest and say first of all, I have never used Philip Kingsley, that I know of...
(Meaning, unless it was used at a salon, I have never used it, as I know I have never bought it.)
Having said that, I went online to see what I could learn.
Hold up right there...   If you want to learn about your hair and hair care products, their website is full of information!    I particularly liked the HAIR MYTH section...

So-
UP first we tried the Philip Kingsley Moisture Extreme.
I have to tell you something here...
I wanted to use this one, as my hair gets pretty dry at times... It doesn't help that I normally just wash and put it up these days, not much in the styling department...
But-  I was using this...
First thing I noticed... I love the smell.
It leaves my hair feeling nice and clean... It was like a lightweight cleanse and I have used it over and over... and still love it like it was the first time using it!
Second thing... BIG thing to me...
The shampoo and conditioner tubes are similar... but, I love that they differentiated on them...
the word "shampoo" is below the Shampoo type...   and on the conditioner, it is above it and in a bigger font.  That is great for those like me who wear glasses and can not see that well without them.   (I don't know about you, but I don't wear my glasses in the shower, so I needed to have help to see which I was using next!)  It was only after falling in love with this did I realize that it is technically designed for "African Caribbean" hair types.  OOPS!

We were also sent a couple other of their hair products, but I have yet to use all of them... I did treat my mom and dad to their own shampoo/conditioner when they came to visit recently!  (Normally they get the hotel shampoo/conditioner, but this time they had Philip Kingsley's Pure Silver Line!)  I was going to send it home with them, as I hope to not be grey for some time... and since Marc shaves, he would not be needing it...  Then I read the information on it:
Formulated specifically for grey, highlighted and bleached blonde hair, Pure Silver shampoo adds shine to dull, discoloured, grey and brassy blondes.
Designed with violet hues and optical brighteners, it reduces the appearance of yellow discolouration and gives the hair a dramatically brighter and glossier appearance. It provides gentle cleansing, balancing the different needs of roots and ends and supplies vital moisture, leaving hair lustrous and manageable.
Contains lavender oil for a calming fragrance. Ideal for brightening ‘highlights’ between colouring.

Since I have recently gone to getting highlights during the summer, I figure I might need it after all, so I am keeping it here for a bit longer first !!!!
There are a couple more products that I want to tell you about:
Up first, the baby line:
Since my sister in law just had a baby, I wanted to share the baby bath time tips that I was sent:
Babies’ Hair Background
  • Hair follicles begin to develop on an unborn baby at 9 weeks gestation, with scalp hairs appearing at 20 weeks
  • Within the first 4 months of life, the first coat of scalp hair is shed in a wave pattern, and hairs then begin their normal daily growing and falling cycle
How to Shampoo the Hair
  • As children get older and their hair begins to grow, a little shampoo will help to cleanse more effectively - this can be used around 4 weeks
  • A baby’s head is so small that you only need one hand to shampoo with
How Often Should You Wash Babies’ Hair:
  • It is safe to shampoo your baby’s hair every day, provided you are using a mild shampoo, such as PK Baby
Cradle Cap
  • Daily shampooing helps to prevent the occurrence of cradle cap, the infant form of adult scalp condition, pityriasis amiantacea
  • Cradle Cap most commonly occurs in babies up to three months old
Conditioning the Hair
  • It is not really necessary to condition a baby’s hair while it is relatively fine and fluffy, however once the hair starts to grow longer and thicken up, applying a little conditioner will help to keep it in tip top condition

Last thing, I just learned about this and think it is pretty neat...  PK has a product called Swimcap.   We haven't been to the pool much this year, but I see that we will need to get this if we manage to get to the pool soon!  Information on Swimcap:
Originally developed by Philip Kingsley at the request of the first US Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team, Swimcap’s formula is both a summer saviour and a must-have for swimmers.
Containing UV protection, Swimcap cream protects against the damaging effects of the sun which leads to hair breakage and colour fading, making it a holiday essential for healthy, beautiful hair. It also protects against the drying and damaging effects of both chlorinated and salt water, as well as discoloration from swimming pool water.
Swimcap deeply conditions your hair as you wear it, leaving it in better condition than before. For use on wet hair.

Hope this was great information for you to take care of your hair!!!!

  1. I still use baby shampoo on the boy's hair much of the time. I've gone with sulphate free shampoo. It's most certainly different! At first I hated it. It doesn't suds up. You have to wash your hair twice. I don't loose as much hair in the shower, and my hair feels much better/less frizzy.

  2. The myth section was interesting, especially the vinegar/lemon rinse which I thought was true. :)

Thanks for the review. I want to try it just to smell it. :)

  3. I love when the salon do my hair too. IT's light and free and bouncy. I don't know how they get it that way :)

But I had to stop. Too expensive it got.

Now it's about finding great products like these to do it at home :)

Oooh and I love redheads :)
